Bring the element listed below, target the recommended break, and verify unusual status resistances in the hunt briefing. Water handles Anjanath and Barroth; Ice handles Diablos and Odogaron; Thunder is useful across Rathalos, Legiana and Kushala Daora.

Why the break matters more than the element
A correct element is only part of the plan. Breaking the right part changes the fight: Rathalos loses air time when a wing breaks, Nergigante loses a dangerous spike phase when white growths break, and Diablos becomes much less mobile when a leg or horn is broken.
Pick one break that makes the hunt safer or unlocks the material you need. Do not split your squad across three different parts in a pick-up group.

Radiant forms and weakness changes
Radiant versions may keep the base weakness but add a new hazard that changes which weapon is comfortable. For example, a ground-hazard variant might make a ranged weapon safer even if a melee weapon has slightly higher elemental damage. Read the specific monster page before assuming the base chart is enough.

Status effects
Poison, paralysis and other statuses have separate resistances. A monster can be weak to Fire but resistant to Poison. If you are building a status weapon, check the in-game notes and treat the element column as only half the answer.
