Anjanath is weak to Water and Thunder. Break the head first and bring a Bow if you want the cleanest first clear. Read the sneeze, punish the bite.
Field notes
Anjanath overview
Anjanath is the first brute wyvern that asks you to stop attacking whenever the head starts to glow. Its nose flares, a bright heat signature builds around the jaws, and a wide cone of flame follows a short wind-up. The move is easy to dodge sideways, but it catches anyone who commits to a long combo in front of the face.
The legs are the real target. Both can be broken, and each break creates a stumble window long enough for a full charge or a Demon Gauge dump. The tail is a secondary objective: sever it to remove one sweeping attack and to add a valuable carving chance at the end of the hunt.

Hunt plan
How to beat Anjanath
Start behind the front legs
Do not open on the head. Anjanath's first chain is usually a shoulder check followed by a bite, and both moves clip hunters who stand in front. Slip under the belly, hit the nearest leg until the part flashes, then move out before the hip check. Water and Thunder weapons add reliable bonus damage on this target.
Walk out of the fire cone
When the jaws flare, sheathe nothing: walk or roll perpendicular to the head. The cone does not track far to the side. Once the flame ends, the recovery is free damage. If you are playing Bow or Heavy Bowgun, this is the cleanest head-shooting window in the hunt.
Respect the enraged leap
The enraged version adds a lunging bite that covers far more ground than the animation suggests. Keep one dodge of stamina in reserve. After the leap, Anjanath turns slowly; a dodge toward its hip is safer than running directly away.
Radiant Anjanath changes the floor
Radiant Anjanath digs through Radiantite and throws molten rock, turning safe ground into a hazard. Watch the floor for a glowing crack before the eruption. The head and legs remain the best breaks, but the new projectiles make Evade Extender or a shield more valuable than raw DPS.
Radiantite watch
Radiant form & variant notes
Radiant Anjanath is a confirmed transformed hunt. Radiant Anjanath is confirmed in the Aesoland roster. It breathes stronger flames and excavates Radiantite to hurl at hunters. Treat the new ground-burst attacks as the main difference: keep moving after every leg break and do not assume you are safe just because you are outside the jaw.
Radiant rule
Carry the base weakness but plan for the new hazard. A safe clear with slightly lower damage is better than a perfect elemental build that spends half the fight healing. Read the Radiant species guide.
Preparation
Anjanath checklist
- Bring Water or Thunder element; both are efficient against Anjanath.
- Break both legs before chasing the tail cut.
- Do not stand directly under the chin while it is charging fire.
- Radiant versions add ground eruptions — keep the camera high enough to see the floor.
First-clear rule
Pick one break, one element and one safe punish. Do not try to optimize the entire hunt before you have survived it once.
