Legiana is weak to Thunder and Fire. Break the head first and bring a Bow if you want the cleanest first clear. Ground the wings and the sky closes.
Field notes
Legiana overview
Legiana sells the fantasy of a monster that owns the sky. Its aerial passes are fast, its ice attacks leave freezing patches, and its wings are the key to bringing it down. The fight is frustrating if you chase; it becomes manageable when you control the ground and force landings.
Thunder is the cleanest element, with Fire as a strong alternative. Break a wing early to shorten its aerial time, then use the landing recovery to work the head and tail. Ice Resistance is a useful comfort investment for melee builds.

Legiana weakness & best weapons
Elemental damage is only part of the answer. Choose a weapon that can safely reach the part you need to break. The recommendations below are a starting point for a first clear, not a hard rule.

Breakable parts & materials
The recommended break order is: 1. Head, 2. Left wing, 3. Right wing, 4. Tail. This is the safest sequence for a typical first hunt. If your armor or weapon recipe needs a specific part, target that break and leave the rest for a later run.

Hunt plan
How to beat Legiana
Break a wing first
The wings are not just damage targets; they are the pace of the fight. Ranged weapons can open a wing during flight. Melee should punish the low sweep and the landing, then rotate to the far wing when the monster turns.
Read the ice breath line
The ice breath starts with a head lift and a short pause. Move to the side and close in after the beam ends. Do not roll through the beam; the lingering frost can freeze you in place.
Use the landing window
Every aerial sequence ends eventually. Position near the center and watch for the descent instead of following the shadow at full sprint. A Hammer or Great Sword hit on the landing is worth several speculative swings.
Radiant Legiana is faster, not different
Radiant Legiana appears in the beta roster. Its ice pressure is stronger and its aerial recovery is shorter. Keep the wing-break plan, but save your biggest burst for verified landings rather than trying to force an airborne hit.
Radiantite watch
Radiant form & variant notes
Radiant Legiana is a confirmed transformed hunt. Radiant Legiana is confirmed in the closed beta files. It combines its ice attacks with Radiantite shards, making the air-to-ground pattern more dangerous. Ground it first, then punish; do not trade hits in the air.
Radiant rule
Carry the base weakness but plan for the new hazard. A safe clear with slightly lower damage is better than a perfect elemental build that spends half the fight healing. Read the Radiant species guide.
Preparation
Legiana checklist
- Thunder is the best element; Fire is a solid backup.
- Break one wing early to reduce air time.
- Ice Resistance helps melee builds survive frost patches.
- Do not chase the shadow — wait for the landing.
First-clear rule
Pick one break, one element and one safe punish. Do not try to optimize the entire hunt before you have survived it once.
