Pink Rathian is weak to Dragon and Thunder. Break the head first and bring a Long Sword if you want the cleanest first clear. If the tail is green, do not stand behind it.
Field notes
Pink Rathian overview
Pink Rathian is a subspecies that leans harder into poison and tail pressure. The signature backflip comes faster than a normal Rathian's, and the tail remains dangerous even after the first hit. Severing it removes a large part of the threat and should be the squad's first long-term goal.
Dragon and Thunder are the best elements. The wings are important for armor materials, but the tail is the tactical break. Watch the head tilt before the flip and move to the side or behind the wing, not directly away from the body.

The recommended break order is: 1. Head, 2. Left wing, 3. Right wing, 4. Tail. This is the safest sequence for a typical first hunt. If your armor or weapon recipe needs a specific part, target that break and leave the rest for a later run.

How to beat Pink Rathian
Sever the tail before chasing damage
A severed tail removes the sweeping poison arc and the most punishing part of the backflip. Focus the tail when the monster is grounded. Use mounts or a leg break to create the opening, then commit to the cut.
Read the backflip wind-up
The flip begins with a sharp head lift and a body dip. Move around the side of the monster. Backing straight up often puts you directly in the descending tail arc.
Break the wings for the material pool
Both wings can break. They are easier targets after a tail cut, when the monster is forced to turn more slowly. Ranged weapons can farm them while melee players work the legs.
Poison is the hidden timer
Pink Rathian's poison can erase your healing progress if you ignore it. Bring Poison Resistance or antidotes and cleanse early. A long fight is not automatically a bad one; a poisoned one often is.
Radiantite watch
Radiant form & variant notes
Radiant Pink Rathian is a confirmed transformed hunt. Radiant Pink Rathian appears in the closed-beta roster as a further transformed version of the pink subspecies. Expect the same tail-first threat with a more punishing Radiant state. Cut the tail early, cleanse poison immediately and break the bright Radiant part to end the danger phase.
Radiant rule
Carry the base weakness but plan for the new hazard. A safe clear with slightly lower damage is better than a perfect elemental build that spends half the fight healing. Read the Radiant species guide.
Preparation
Pink Rathian checklist
- Dragon is the cleanest element; Thunder is a good backup.
- Sever the tail to remove the poison arc.
- Dodge the backflip to the side, not straight back.
- Cleanse poison before starting another damage window.
First-clear rule
Pick one break, one element and one safe punish. Do not try to optimize the entire hunt before you have survived it once.
